Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team played host to Northeast-10 Conference opponent LeMoyne College on Saturday, January 2 in Garden City, New York. The Panthers secured a 90-77 win behind 27 points from Richard Byrd and 25 points from David Akinyooye. With the win Adelphi runs their win streak to eight games, while improving to 13-1 overall and 6-1 in NE-10 play, while the Dolphins fall to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in conference action.
Byrd led the Panthers with 27 points, while Akinyooye added a double-double, scoring 25 and pulling down 12 misses. Casey Cosgrove also found double figures in two categories, scoring 19 and handing out 10 assists to go along with four steals, while Steffon Farley blocked all five shots for Adelphi.

Adelphi's first lead came courtesy of a Byrd triple at the 13:07 mark that gave the Panthers a two point lead, 15-13.
Adelphi would remain in front the rest of the half, taking their biggest lead of six points with 8:56 remaining, 25-19, on a Farley three-point play. However, the Dolphins notted the game on three occasions and got a Michael Goodman lay-up off a Gamal Mohamed miss to head into halftime down just one, 36-35.
The visitor's started the second half much like the first, taking a two point lead right away on a Kevin Roth free throw and Ekperigin dunk. But, unlike the first half Adelphi and LeMoyne would battle back and forth for the lead until another Byrd three-pointer gave the Panthers a 46-44 lead with 15:44 to play that would signal the last lead change.
The Dolphins cut Adelphi's margin to two, 58-56, on a Christopher Johnson triple with 9:55 to play, but Chris Ranglin answered with a lay-up that started a 14-4 run that was capped by a Chris Diasparra three-pointer, giving the Panthers a 72-60 lead with 5:26 to play and putting the game away.
Ekperigin led all scorers with 33 points and pulled down a game-high 19 rebounds as Damani Corbin chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Johnson also found double figures with 13 points.
