The Panthers used a big second half run to pull out a 57-38 win.

Caldwell, NJ - Trailing by a point at the break, the Adelphi University men's basketball team opened up the second half with an 11-2 run and never looked back en route to a 57-38 victory over the Dominican College Chargers on Sunday, December 20 at the ECAC Holiday Classic hosted by Caldwell College. With the win, Adelphi improved to 10-1, while Dominican falls to 5-5.

Richard Byrd led the way for Adelphi with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Rob Johnson added eight points and five rebounds. Steffon Farely scored seven in the win, while both Casey Cosgrove and Chris Ranglin added six points each and Cosgrove also handed out five assists.

Adelphi used the first 10 minutes of action to build an eight point lead, 13-5, on a run that was capped by a Johnson made free throw. Dominican clawed back, using a 14-1 burst to take a five point lead, 19-14 with 2:50 left. However, the Panthers answered back, pulling two within one point, 21-20 on a Byrd lay-up with five seconds left.

Byrd gave the Panthers the lead just 21 seconds into the second half on two made free throws and Adelphi never looked back, using a 21-6 run to take a 41-27 lead on a Ranglin bucket. The Panthers would extend their lead to 20 points with 2:15 left before collecting a 19 point win, 57-38.

Adelpi returns to action on Tuesday, December 22 when they play host to Bloomfield at 7:30 pm.
